A welcome rest from the stresses of Championship duty, Palace travelled to Deepdale for this 2nd round League Cup tie. A far from first team affair, but as in the Exeter game, the home team struck first in the 2nd minute through Wroe. What seems to be trademark Palace defending this season allowed Sodje to score a second that was bundled into the net in the 18th minute. Palace finally found time to respond when Aaron Wilbraham scored his first goal for the club with a header in the 37th minute only for League One's Preston to reply through a screamer from Monakana just before the interval. Even though Palace had 16 shots compared with Preston's 9, the home side were more clinical and ended the game as a contest with a fourth from Wroe in the 63rd minute.
View from TheEaglesBeak; Who cares about the cup anyway, we had more than a flirt with it last season. More of a concern is that losing is becoming a hard habit to break and the pressure is on ahead of the next league game.
