Captain Jedi |
Perhaps not the top of the table clash that we were all expecting
after Palace dropped out of the top two after home draw with Huddersfield. But
we were missing both Delaney and Ward for this game though suspension and
injury respectively.
You could have been fooled into thinking you were watching
Brazil. Palace took the game to the home side and took an early lead through
Captain Jedi’s header. It could have been oh so better when Zaha tormented the
Welsh defence, cut inside and crashed his shot against the crossbar. The
visitors, who in fact had more Welsh players in their squad than the home side,
had the majority of the half. But it was lapse when Noone hammered a Bellamy
cross into the net which was at first disallowed but then reinstated after
protest. The subsequent protests from Palace fell on deaf ears and this proved
to be the turning point as the second period proved that there could be a tale
of two halves. Cardiff were in the ascendancy and perhaps deservedly took the
lead through Gunnarsson and Palace had little to throw back at them in a search
for an equaliser.

TheEaglesBeak; A loss away to the team at the top of the table is not the
issue. It is the expectation that our recent form has given some Palace fans.
Foolishly perhaps, but this was only the second loss in 21 matches. Quite an
effort that and from a Palace team expected to struggle.
