Ask any Palace fan and this will be the fixture they will
first look to on the calendar. But along with the excitement of beating old
foes, there is the added element of fear of losing.
The usual frenetic opening but it wasn’t long until the
first talking point. Bolasie took advantage of a mistake from centre back Dunk
who only succeeded in bringing him down to a certain red card. From the
resultant free kick Garvan hit the cross bar. If the home fans were not fired
up already then they were now whipped up into a frenzy. Then it came, the home
side taking the lead through Murray who headed past the keeper from a corner.
The half time whistle was welcome if only for the fans to take a breath.
There
was no let up in the second half, Palace only needed until the 54th
minute to double the lead. It was Murray that rather fortunately won it and
brushed himself off and slotted it home. In the year of the penalty, it was
another that put Palace three up. A rather bizarre and blatant push on Murray
who sportingly handed the honours to Garvan, who duly obliged.
View from
TheEaglesBeak; Forgive the rather partial view of the game but that was oh so
enjoyable and the team has found its mojo again and against no better
opponents.
