This game was perhaps built up to be more than it should. Palace in wonderful form before kick off and storming yp the Championship table. Their opponents from the other side of south London very inconsistent.
It was no surprise that it was Palace that took the game to their local rivals. The only suprise that it took 35 minutes to break the deadlock but what a way to do it. What looked to be no threat whatsoever the Jedi picked up the ball 35 yards out and had a go. The ball swerved away from the Millwall keeper and into the back of the net sending the Holmesdale into raptures. It didn't take long for another goal and it was another from Damien Delaney, three in as many matches, to put Palace 2-0 up. Then the turning point, Dean Moxey doing what most other defenders would have done, cleared off the line with his hand earning himself a red card and penalty to Millwall which was converted just ahead of the half time whistle.
The second half was very different in a game that saw 11 yellow cards which was typical of a local derby such as this. The equaliser eventually arrived after 77 minutes but it was a brave display from the ten men who even had their chances to go 3-1 up.
View from TheEaglesBeak; Perhaps a win was expected but a draw with ten men keeps the wheels turning. Hindsight is a wonderful thing and I'm sure Dean wouldn't choose to the same again but as anyone who has played the game knows, it's instinct. Very unfair the player got the stick that he did after the game.
